Some of these injuries and fatalities happen when a person is contracted to severe radiological, chemical, mechanical, physical and other hazards. Ensuring that the workers and the staff at chemical industries, factories, and other organizational institutions remain safe, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) recommends using PPE equipment.
You might be wondering, what comes under PPE equipment? Some of the most typical PPE equipment includes facemasks, hand gloves, safety glasses, shoes, respirators, and many more.
If your organization is not providing you with appropriate PPE gear, speak to your administration supervisor or anyone else because it is your company’s responsibility to ensure everyone remains safe and secure while performing tedious tasks.
Things your company should provide to you related to PPE
Under the rule of law, the Occupational Safety and Health Act demands the employers to give their staff the right PPE gear if they are subjected to numerous chemicals and gasses in the field and the office. There are various types of hazards present in organizations.
Some of the most common are carrying heavy objects and getting in contact with different viruses and bacteria. In chemical industries, the staff and the workers at all times should wear hazmat suits, gloves, eyeglasses and helmets for safety. Since chemical industries possess hazardous environment, you can get exposed to multiple terminal illnesses that eventually leads to death.
In terms of safety and security, employers should not just provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for their staff. They should also provide appropriate training and instructions to the staff about the following things:

Some of the most common PPE equipment available in the market are as follows:
- PPE-based eyewear
Not many people seem to believe this, but a handful number of eye injuries occur due to the flashings, sparks, and electrical shocks. There are many times when small pieces of metal, harmful specs and even chemical waste are not considered as a big object.
Therefore it is vital that all the workers and the staff wear PPE certified eyewear when they are working on the field, site, or anywhere else. Some of the most common types of eyewear include eye protection glasses, protective face shields, OSHA approved goggles, and much more.
- Respiratory equipment
In the PPE clothing setup, the respiratory equipment is segregated into two equal types, comprising of respirators which are known as filtering safety equipment and breathing rig, also known as the isolating protective equipment.
Among these two types, the respirators are also narrowed into two different equipment types known as unpowered and powered. Power equipment is the most common face masks we see. They can either be half-face or full-face, as well as safety helmets, visors, and hoods.
Unpowered respirators are the ones having filters and other protective layers. They are expensive, limited, and mostly used by people having high-risk jobs.

In almost all the fields, all the jobs and duties are performed by using hands. But in construction and safety industry, all the labors use their hands to carry harmful materials from one place to another.
